WSJ Names Three Private Equity Firms As Bidders for Duke Merchant Assets

June 03,2014

The Wall Street Journal has reported that three of the bidders for Duke Energy's merchant power plants are: a joint bid by Blackstone Group LP and Riverstone Holdings LLC; Energy Investors Funds; and Energy Capital Partners.

Notably, there are no retail-centric suppliers in that group (though some of the named firms have various stakes in certain retail marketers).

The Duke Energy Retail book is being included in the sale process, but it is unclear if any of these named bidders would purchase such book in addition to the plants
