Columnist Pushes To Allow Texas REPs To Access Usage Data Of Non-Customers Faster, Easier

In a column discussing Engie's "energy as a service" model (see background here), Houston Chronicle columnist Chris Tomlinson criticized current regulations governing how energy providers access the data of potential customers.

"Usage data is critical to energy as a service, and today's retailers can only see the records of existing customers. To see a potential customer's history to put together an energy-as-a-service bid, they must get a waiver and wait 24 hours ... Texas lawmakers need to update our electricity market rules," Tomlinson writes
