ERCOT Files Cost Estimate For Rayburn Integration Transmission

June 28,2017

ERCOT has filed a study it conducted to identify the transmission facilities necessary to integrate the portion of the Rayburn Country Electric Cooperative, Inc. (RCEC) transmission system (including approximately 190 MW of load) that remains in the Southwest Power Pool with the ERCOT System.

As the report notes, the estimated cost of ERCOT's preferred option for integrating the RCEC system is $38 million. ERCOT notes that its study does not attempt to address all of the costs and benefits that may be associated with integrating the remaining portion of the RCEC system. ERCOT also emphasizes that its study does not constitute a formal endorsement of the preferred option or of any other option, as the need for the project depends entirely on whether the Commission decides that the RCEC system should be integrated with the ERCOT System.
