Ohio PUC Announces Grid Modernization Review To Enhance Customer Experience
March 09,2017
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio announced the launch of PowerForward: a PUCO review of the latest in technological and regulatory innovation that could serve to modernize the electric distribution grid and enhance the customer electricity experience.
“Through PowerForward, the PUCO will comprehensively explore this technology and consider how it could serve to enhance the customer electricity experience,” said PUCO Chairman Asim Z. Haque.
The PUCO will kick off PowerForward on April 18, 19 and 20. The three-day “A Glimpse at the Future” series will feature presentations examining technologies affecting a modern distribution grid; what our future grid could offer customers; and what technologies are in development to realize such enhancements.
Note that no retail suppliers are represented among the initial speakers that have been announced. A corporate FirstEnergy exec is among the initial speakers, but as previously reported, FirstEnergy is exiting its competitive businesses by mid-2018.
The speaker list is identified as, "a list of scheduled speakers for phase one of PowerForward."
"More speakers will be added to the list as information becomes available," PUCO states
