BGE SOS Rates Decreasing Due To Revised Adders Approved By PSC
November 28,2016
Baltimore Gas & Electric has filed changes to its SOS electric rates as a result of the Maryland PSC's recent decision on the amount of BGE's bypassable SOS Administrative Charge
While nearly all SOS rates are decreasing immediately as a result of the PSC's order, the residential SOS rates will see a marginal increase (about 0.5 mills/kWh) for November and December 2016 only due to timing of the implementation of the new SOS adders, as a new lower return component for the SOS Admin Charge does not take effect immediately.
Specifically, for the residential SOS Admin Charge return component, through December 31, 2016, BGE will continue both accruing and billing the 1.5 mills/kWh residential SOS return and refunding this amount to all residential distribution customers consistent with Rider 16. Hence, the total residential Administrative Charge through December 31, 2016 will be 4.20 mills/kWh nominally, but the effective rate will be lower as the 1.50 mills/kWh SOS residential return is being returned to residential distribution customers through Rider 16. BGE will implement the new lower residential return component of 0.93 mills/kWh on January 1, 2017, resulting in a decrease in SOS rates.
