ENGIE Programs Help Customers Leverage Historical Interval Meter Data to Maximize Energy Efficiency

September 22,2016

ENGIE Resources said that it is now offering two new programs – Virtual Energy Assessments (VEA) and VLoad – which allow customers to access their historical data, collected on an interval basis, and make judgments on facility operations and identify opportunities that improve the efficiency of future energy consumption at each site.

VEA is a solution of Retroficiency, a leading building efficiency intelligence company recently acquired by ENGIE. The program, ENGIE said, provides commercial customers with a unique narrative of potential energy savings techniques. Using building science and algorithms of metering data, weather, occupancy, and construction data, Retroficiency can identify opportunities and delivers actionable intelligence, with pinpoint accuracy

ENGIE said that customers benefit from:

• Energy usage and savings analyses, disaggregating consumption into major end use categories with breakdowns by usage and spending. Highlights of key issues driving energy efficiency savings are also provided, as well as operational change and retrofit recommendations.

• Portfolio and site planning, comparing metrics for energy spending and savings opportunities across properties and providing tools to create action plans that address each customer’s specific savings metrics.

• And most importantly, spending and consumption trends, summarizing critical energy-related charges across each facility and delivering monthly trend analyses, both in absolute and on an average per-day basis.

With VLoad – a service provided through ENGIE Resources’ VPower platform – customers get visualizations of relevant demand, price, and temperature comparisons, via web-portal:

• Comparison graphs, with general insight on what is happening at different locations.

• Site analyses graphs, which give customers the ability to overlay facility demand with temperature or price data. This helps them identify how temperatures impact load changes, view consumption patterns when real-time prices are at their highest, and see the correlation between spikes in temperature and spikes in market price.

• Multi-day and hour comparison graphs, which enable customers to perform deep dive comparisons across two selected time frames for the same site, temperature location, or price zone.

“Historical interval metering unleashes the analytical ability to compare and contrast energy expenditures and savings for multi – site facilities,” said Victor Wulc, Sustainability Advisor at ENGIE Resources.

“What’s great about these programs is that they highlight critical variables, like billing insights and market prices, with historical interval meter data in a way that offers tangible value for end users. They are extremely insightful and reliable tools for delivering the intelligence on previous usage patterns that customers need to save on consumption and costs tomorrow,” Wulc said
