PUCT Staff Make Final Recommendations on Proposal For Requiring New DC Ties Into ERCOT To Obtain CCN

May 13,2016

Staff of the Public Utility Commission of Texas have filed a draft proposal for adoption to implement various provisions of SB 933, which, among other things, requires persons to first obtain a certificate of convenience and necessity (CCN) from the PUCT prior to interconnecting a tie line into the ERCOT transmission grid

As part of implementing this requirement, Staff's draft proposal for adoption would amend the substantive rules to require that an application for a DC tie shall include a study from the ERCOT independent system operator, with such study including an ERCOT-approved reliability assessment

See Staff's proposal here in Docket 45124
