Report: Latest Exelon Illinois Bailout Plan Would Allow Utility ComEd To Own Generation

May 06,2016

Crain's Chicago Business reports that the latest plan offered by Exelon to subsidize its out-of-money nuclear reactors in Illinois would allow Commonwealth Edison to not only own and operate microgrids, but also allow ComEd to own generation serving the microgrids.

The proposed microgrid provisions would, "allow ComEd to earn a return on their construction and to own power generation facilities serving those discrete areas for the first time since Exelon shifted ComEd's nukes from the utility to an unregulated subsidiary in the early 2000s," Crain's reports
