NRG Energy confirmed that it acquired Energy Choice Solutions LLC d/b/a EnergyWize in July 2015

Though licensed as a broker in several states, Energy Choice Solutions LLC had not been engaging in direct interactions with end users, and is not doing so under the new NRG ownership. Rather, the company offers "Broker of Broker" services to third party sales agents and brokers via its online retail energy exchange platform, including white label services

Though Energy Choice Solutions does not offer services directly to end-use retail energy customers, NRG does offer broker/consulting services to end users through its SimplySmart group, which was augmented in 2014 with the purchase of broker Fox, Smolen & Associates
