D.C. Public Power Group "Offer[s]" To Purchase Pepco Distribution Assets
October 19,2015
DC Public Power, which is seeking municipalization of Pepco's District of Columbia distribution system, said that it has, "offer[ed]," to purchase the Pepco-DC assets, but such offer was declined by Exelon and Pepco
DC Public Power said that it would, "pay a fair, agreed price for Pepco’s DC assets based upon book value (rate base) and a modest premium," but in a PSC filing did not list a price.
DC Public Power's filing, in which it opposed approval of a settlement among Exelon, Pepco, and various D.C. government agencies for approval of the Exelon-PHI merger, was silent as to the impact municipalization would have on the current customer choice program in the District.
We would note, however, that the vast majority of public power utilities do no offer customer choice
