Utility in Choice State Targets Providing 1 Million Smart Thermostats To Customers
October 09,2015
A partnership between the Environmental Law & Policy Center, Commonwealth Edison, Nicor Gas, Peoples Gas, North Shore Gas, and the Illinois Citizens Utility Board, with the support of the Illinois Commerce Commission, is targeting installing one million smart thermostats across ComEd territory over the next five years.
The partnership's smart thermostat initiative makes ecobee3 and the Nest Learning Thermostat smart thermostats eligible for $120 in rebates for customers with Wi-Fi, central air, and a furnace. The rebates nearly halve the cost of the devices which retail for $249.00.
