PSC Chair: Public Policy Is For Local Utility To Focus "Solely" On Distribution Service

August 26,2015

In explaining the District of Columbia PSC's decision to deny the merger of Exelon and Pepco, Chairman Betty Ann Kane stated, "The public policy of the District is that the local electric company should focus solely on providing safe, reliable and affordable distribution service to District residences, businesses and institutions." [emphasis added]

Do you think the PSC is fulfilling this goal, or moving towards it?

Is Pepco's current role in the District, which includes acting as the default supplier, merely focused on providing safe, reliable and affordable distribution service?
