Muni Aggregation Says Customers Not Opting Out Paying 4¢ Higher Rate

Officials with the City of Marlborough, MA have informed residents that customers who have not opted out of the city's municipal electric aggregation are paying a rate that is nearly 4¢/kWh higher than the default service rate.
"Under the City’s municipal aggregation agreement, the residential electricity rate for Marlborough residents through November 2015 is currently $0.12858/kWh; however, the residential rate from National Grid is currently $0.09257/kWh. As a result, Marlborough residents who have not opted out of municipal aggregation are now paying a higher electricity rate," the city said in a notice to customers
The city has reminded customers that they can leave the aggregation for National Grid default service without any termination fee
