TCAP Readying Report on TX Dereg, Spokesperson Notes Some REP Rates Competitive With Regulated Rates

In speaking with the Texas Coalition for Affordable Power for a story on resumption of the Texas low-income discount program, The Brownsville Herald reports that TCAP, "plans to release a new report soon that compares electricity rates in regulated and unregulated markets."

Paraphrasing Dyer, The Brownsville Herald wrote, "Data over the years shows customers in regulated markets paying less for electricity than in deregulated markets, though some providers in deregulated markets appear to have begun offering rates competitive with regulated markets."
