Report: N.H. Electricity "Deregulation Bill" Moves Toward Approval

April 10,2014

The Manchester Union Leader reports that the New Hampshire state legislature, "is headed toward approval" of a bill, "that could lead to the sale or closure of PSNH power plants."

The Union Leader reports that testimony regarding HB 1602 provided at a Senate committee hearing yesterday was "mostly favorable."

The bill previously passed the House.

However, the bill itself would not require PSNH to divest its utility-owned plants. The bill would only require the PUC to study the issue, but would also grant the PUC authority to require divestiture -- authority which most stakeholders believes the PUC currently lacks.
