Direct Energy is offering up to 10,000 Plenti points for residential customer enrollments.

As previously reported, Plenti is a new cross-company loyalty program launched by American Express

According to Direct's website, "when you enroll with Direct Energy for qualifying electricity and/or natural gas plans, you will receive 5,000 Plenti points when you link your Plenti card number with your Direct Energy account. If you enroll in both commodities, you will receive 5,000 Plenti points per commodity under qualifying plans."

Direct's website states more opportunities to earn rewards are set to be offered this fall, including earning Plenti points for paying "eligible" energy charges.

A Direct Energy FAQ states that, "As Plenti will be the signature loyalty program for the Direct Energy brand, the Direct Energy Rewards program will be phased out, and eventually closed by fall 2015."

The Direct website states that it is not possible to use Plenti points at Direct Energy. The Plenti website states that points can be used at Exxon, Macy's, Mobil and Rite Aid

Other Plenti members include AT&T, Exxon-Mobil, Macy's, Nationwide Insurance, Rite Aid, Hulu, Enterprise-National-Alamo rental cars, and American Express
