Conn. State Rep. Taken In By Retail Supplier "Bait & Switch"

April 07,2014

The Stamford Advocate has a piece from State Representative William Tong who said he was "taken in" by a retail electric's "bait and switch"

Tong said that he started with a "teaser" rate of 9 cents, but that rate jumped to 17 cents.

"None of us is immune from getting ripped off. So many of us have to make these everyday financial decisions, which are sometimes pretty technical and hard to understand, while trying to get our kids off to school, making a living, and coming home to cook dinner and spend a few minutes catching our breath," Tong said, in explaining his support for new legislation aimed at electric market customer protection
