Report: Nevada Casinos Seek to Leave Utility for Competitive Supply
April 13,2015
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that several casinos are seeking to leave NV Energy utility supply in favor of competitive supply.
Under Nevada's restrictive "choice" market design, only very large customers (1 MW or above) may take alternative supply, and must get approval from the PUC to do so.
See the Las Vegas Review-Journal, which notes the petitions follow a similar petition from Switch Communications, and which identifies the alternative supplier from which Switch would take supply upon leaving utility supply.
