Michigan Bill Would Expand Choice Cap, Allow Competition for Default Supplier Role

A bill has been filed by Michigan State Sen. Mike Shirkey to increase the electric choice cap, and which also reportedly would allow competitive suppliers to act in the default supplier role.
Text of Shirkey's bill was not immediately available
According to the Associated Press, via the Lansing State Journal, Shirkey's bill would allow some 11,000 customers currently on the choice waiting list to take competitive supply immediately, which would have the effect of doubling the choice cap to 20%. The AP reports that the bill would gradually increase the choice cap another 18%, with future increases possible
The AP also reports that the bill would establish "annual market auctions" to allow competitors to act as the default supplier
