Retail Energy Sales Agent Allegedly Steals Customer's Credit Card During Door-to-Door Sale

A sales agent selling retail energy door-to-door has been indicted for theft after allegedly stealing credit cards from a potential customer, Fox 8 Cleveland reports

The agent was soliciting for Constellation Energy, and Constellation Energy provided RetailEnergyX.com with the following statement:

"Constellation has zero tolerance for any fraudulent behavior among our independent sales representatives. Upon learning of the alleged incident Constellation took immediate action. The individual in question has been removed from service and will not represent Constellation again. Additionally, we have cooperated fully with local authorities in their investigation.

"All of the independent agents hired by our vendors undergo rigorous background screening and receive comprehensive training prior to interacting with customers. We sincerely apologize for the distress this has caused one of our customers and have taken added measures to ensure independent agents adhere to our strict compliance standards. Constellation is deeply committed to bringing customers the highest service available and maintaining industry leading standards for door-to-door quality control."
