Report: Aide To Texas Gov. Abbott Present When ERCOT's Decision To Maintain $9,000 Prices Was Made

April 23,2021

The Houston Chronicle reports that an aide to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was present at the ERCOT operations center when ERCOT made the decision to maintain pricing at $9000 per MWh despite load shed having been completed

An Abbott spokesperson told the Chronicle that neither the governor nor the aide "were involved in any way" in the decision to maintain $9000 pricing. The spokesperson said that the aide was sent by the governor because Abbott felt ERCOT was spewing "disinformation" about the crisis.
