Irate Massachusetts Customers Call for Review of Default Service Rate Hikes

February 17,2015

Default service customers in Massachusetts are receiving their first bills reflecting significant default service rates hikes, and according to The Berkshire Eagle are experiencing rate shock even higher than anticipated

That has promoted calls for the Attorney General to review the rates, The Berkshire Eagle reports. The AG had previously attempted to mitigate the rate increases via a deferral, but the Massachusetts DPU found that such action would raise rates due to carrying costs, and only shift higher rates to the high-usage summer period.
