ERCOT Reports Implementation of Lower Counter-Party Limit for PTP Obligation Bids in DAM
July 14,2020
ERCOT in a July 13 market notice that said that ERCOT is lowering the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) Point-to-Point (PTP) Obligation Bid limit per Counter-Party (CP) beginning DAM Operating Day July 15, 2020 from 2,000 to 1,500 bid IDs per CP per Operating Day.
System Change Request (SCR) 798, PTP Obligation Bid ID Limit, provides that ERCOT may decrease a CP limit with a Market Notice if the 2,500 bid IDs per Qualified Scheduling Entity (QSE) is unsuccessful at creating appropriate limits for the DAM, and puts a timely DAM solution in jeopardy.
"ERCOT is lowering the PTP Obligation Bid limit for CPs due to recent increases in PTP Obligation Bid ID submissions that may create the need for manual DAM intervention, and consequently increases the risk for timely DAM solutions," ERCOT said
The new DAM PTP Obligation Bid limit will be updated on the Market Submission Validation Rules document (EMIL ID: NP4-450-M, Report Type ID: 11457) on the Market Information System (MIS) Secure Area. A Digital Certificate is required to access the MIS. DAM PTP Obligation Bid submissions that exceed the CP limit will receive descriptive rejection messages.
