Texas Co-op Customers Protest In Favor of Electric Choice

Customers of Lamar Electric Co-op, serving areas around Paris, Texas, have protested in favor of bringing electric choice to the cooperative, The Paris News reports.

According to the Paris News, Lamar Electric's rate is 11.7¢/kWh. Neighboring co-ops were also reported to have rates in the 10-11¢/kWh range.

Lamar, which is within ERCOT, is surrounded by the Oncor and TNMP service areas.

All-in average fixed rates (quoted at 1,000 kWh) listed on Power to Choose are as low as 5.5¢/kWh at Oncor and 5.9¢/kWh at TNMP
