February 20,2020
The Connecticut Office of Consumers Counsel published a report stating that, for 2019, residential customers who chose retail suppliers paid in aggregate $38,615,680 more than the Standard Offer for their electric generation
The OCC noted that, "EDC filings in January 2020 show that approximately 25,000 Residential customers remain on legacy variable rate contracts that continue to auto-renew, with variables rates as high as 20 centers per kWh."
Noting various enforcement proceedings as well as dockets to establish retail market rules, OCC said that the, "retail electric choice electric market causes a state & regulatory resource drain."
