Former NRG Exec Name President Of Utility Holding Company (Includes Utilities With Choice Programs)
February 06,2020 Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. announced the appointment of Arun Banskota to the newly-created position of President as part of a leadership succession plan, with Banskota later transitioning into the role of Chief Executive Officer in 2020 Banskota previously held several senior positions at NRG, including President & CEO, Electric Vehicle Services (EVgo). While at NRG, Banskota also served as President & CEO, Petra Nova and Senior Vice President, Generation, Texas Region Banskota most recently served as Vice President, Data Center Global Services and Energy Team at Amazon and Amazon Web Services Banskota previously served as Managing Director, Global Power at El Paso Corporation for nearly 10 years during the initial restructuring of the electric industry, with P&L responsibility for a 6,500 MW global portfolio of 32 power plants Banskota has also served as Vice President, Project Development at First Solar/OptiSolar After the transition, current Algonquin Power CEO Ian Robertson is expected to continue to contribute to the company through a collaborative investment platform focused on identifying and partnering with APUC on growth and development opportunities. Among other businesses, Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. owns Liberty Utilities, which operates a New Hampshire EDC with an electric choice program (Granite State Electric) and various natural gas LDCs with choice and/or transportation programs
