Texas Bill Would Require PUCT To Publish Number of Complaints Against Each REP
February 04,2015
Texas State Representative Sylvester Turner has introduced HB 1092 which would require the Public Utility Commission of Texas to publish a more detailed annual complaint report, one which would list the specific number of complaints against each retail electric provider.
HB 1092 would require the PUCT to publish an annual report that, among other things:
• Identifies and defines categories of complaints made by residential customers to the commission;
• Identifies the number of complaints in each category for:
(A) each retail electric provider; and
(B) customers with prepaid plans versus postpaid plans;
• Recommends changes in policy or statute necessary to increase accountability, to increase transparency, and to improve the public's use of the reported information.
The report would be required to be posted on the PUC's website and www.powertochoose.com in an accessible and readable format.
Turner yesterday also filed HB 1101 that would extend the low-income discount program under the system benefit fund to include the fiscal year starting September 1, 2016
