Former Direct Energy CEO Named Interim President Of National Grid U.S. Business

National Grid today announced that, "it has agreed with Dean Seavers, U.S. Executive Director, that for personal reasons, he will step down with immediate effect from his position as a member of the Board and as President of the U.S. business."
Seavers has agreed to stay with the business until December 31, 2019, "in order to ensure a smooth leadership transition and handover," National Grid said
Badar Khan, currently Group Director of Corporate Development and National Grid Ventures and a member of the Group Executive Committee, will take over immediately as interim President of the U.S. business, pending the appointment of a permanent successor to Seavers. Khan, who has been at National Grid since April 2017, will not join the Board in this interim role, but will continue in his role as a member of the Group Executive Committee.
Khan previously served in various roles at Centrica plc for 14 years in the U.K. and U.S., including 4 years as CEO of Direct Energy. Prior to that, he was Chief Marketing Officer at a start-up retail supplier, SmartEnergy, during the early days of electric choice
National Grid said, "The Board will now initiate a thorough process to identify a permanent successor for Dean which will include both internal and external candidates."
