Florida "Crisis" As State's Broken Election Website Hampers Ballot Initiatives (Electric Choice)

October 22,2019

The Tampa Bay Times reports on glitches and problems with a Florida Department of State website created, per legislation, to be used by entities to register canvassers who gather signatures for ballot referendums

The site has worked, "sporadically, if at all," the Times reports, with Alex Patton, a political consultant for Citizens for Energy Choice, saying that the situation has reached a, "crisis point"

The Times notes that with recent legislation essentially requiring that canvassers be paid by the hour, the problems with the state's website mean canvassers are being paid but can't work because they can't register.
