Total Gas and Power Acquires Customers From Failed U.K. Retail Supplier
October 21,2019
U.K. regulator Ofgem has appointed Total Gas and Power to take on supplying Rutherford Energy Supply Limited’s (trading as Uttily Energy) 280 business customers.
This follows an appointment process run by Ofgem to get the best deal possible for customers.
Total Gas and Power will honour any money owed to customers with open accounts with Rutherford, up to a total of £100,000.
Customers will not be charged exit fees if they decide to switch to another supplier.
As previously reported, Rutherford's parent company, Uttily Plc, will also cease to trade. Uttily plc does not directly supply energy to customers, but it has commercial arrangements in place with a number of partner suppliers where around 360 customers are supplied under the Uttily plc brand.
Most Uttily plc customers will continue to be supplied by the relevant partner supplier, therefore, Ofgem will not appoint a new supplier for these customers.
