Crain's Cleveland Business reports that BDO USA has submitted its resignation as FirstEnergy Solutions' accounting firm.

According to Crain's, BDO said in a court filing that, "By a letter dated Oct. 2, 2019, BDO has provided the Debtors with a detailed letter detailing a difference of position with the Debtors regarding the application of an accounting principle to a material transaction. BDO has also informed the Debtors' prior auditor, PricewaterhouseCoopers, of the difference of opinion. BDO has tried to reach a resolution of this issue with the Debtors for six months to no avail. Accordingly, BDO is unable to render a report or otherwise complete the engagement and, therefore, BDO is exercising its right to terminate audit and accounting services on behalf of the Debtors and is resigning its employment with the Debtors."
