New Hampshire City Set To Be First Municipal Aggregation In State
September 19,2019
The City of Lebanon, New Hampshire, through Lebanon Community Power, is set to be the state's first electricity municipal aggregation, the NH Business Review reports (story here)
EnergyChoiceMatters.com had been first to report that Gov. Chris Sununu in August signed SB 286 (Chapter 316 of 2019), which amends the current statute governing municipal aggregations to provide that any municipality or county may, "[a]ggregate the retail electric customers within its boundaries who do not opt out of or who consent to being included in an aggregation program."
Previously, opt-out aggregation was not authorized in New Hampshire
The New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) recently awarded the City of Lebanon a $75,000 tax credit grant to aid in the development and launch of Lebanon Community Power, a municipal aggregation program being created by the Lebanon Energy Advisory Committee (LEAC) under the direction of the Lebanon City Council.
