Vistra Energy is reviewing a potential merger agreement under which Vistra would essentially acquire all of Ambit Energy, according to market chatter.

The market chatter is that the purchase price would be $485mm plus working capital

A deal had been expected to be executed this morning, but was not ultimately executed. Execution of the agreement is still expected in the next few days, according to market chatter. However, as nothing is final, any potential agreement may not ultimately be executed

RetailEnergyX.com has not been able to independently verify the market chatter. Another source was familiar with a process Ambit had been conducting concerning potential M&A, but was not familiar with any specifically identified potential buyer

Vistra Energy said that it does not comment directly on market rumors

Vistra Energy's CEO had recently discussed the company's view on retail M&A on an earnings call earlier this month, as previously reported here
