FPL Sought To Exclude "Disloyal" Customers (Energy Choice Supporters) From Solar Program

July 04,2019

The Miami Herald reports that FPL, as part of its proposed community solar program, had originally proposed limiting customer eligibility to any customer who, "supports continuity of the program."

The language was aimed at preventing supporters of an electric choice ballot initiative from joining the program

The Miami Herald quotes an FPL official as stating at a PSC meeting that, "advocating for a position that would unravel this program for anyone who is a subscriber seems to be talking out of both sides of your mouth. If you want to advocate for that position, that’s fine, but you shouldn’t be in the voluntary program."

The Herald notes PSC Staff pressed FPL on the language

FPL has since deleted the language
