In France, EDF Launches New Retail Offer With Discounted Pricing, Energy Management

June 19,2019

Reuters reports that, in France, government-controlled EDF has launched a new retail electric plan, with a goal of enrolling 1 million new customers to its retail market-based (rather than tariffed) rates.

EDF said that the new retail plan includes discounts of up to 30% for weekends, holidays, and a customer-chosen day

"We developed this offer because the market is becoming increasingly competitive," Reuters quotes EDF’s director of consumer markets Fabrice Gourdellier as saying.

Reuters reports EDF will, "also offer energy management services through connected applications to help clients cut power consumption."

EDF has been seeing a net customer decline of 1 million customers per month in the French market

EDF still leads in market share, at 78% of the residential market.
