AG, OCC Urges Recent Electricity Shoppers To Review Rates Due To Default Service Rates Error

June 17,2019

The Connecticut Attorney General and Consumer Counsel have urged customers who recently switched their electric supplier to review their rates due to incorrect standard service rates that had been posted

"As a result of the inaccurate rates posted by UI on the Energize CT website, some consumers may have switched to a third-party electric supplier on the incorrect understanding that switching would save them money," the AG's office said

"Consumers who want to switch back to the standard service rate can and should ask United Illuminating to reimburse them for any early termination fee," the AG said

As first exclusively reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, UI will reimburse termination fees, but will not cite that fact in a letter sent to customers, but will rather be discussed as any customer class UI in response (see details here)
