Chron: Calpine Reverses Losses After Going Private (Retail Marketing Strategy Discussed)

June 14,2019

The Houston Chronicle published a profile on Calpine's success after going private

Of note, in discussing the company's plan to grow the company's current ~5% retail market share in Texas, the Chronicle reports that, "Calpine, which has adopted the slogan 'no fine print,' is betting electricity shoppers in Texas will be drawn to a company that doesn’t sell confusing multi-tier electricity plans, doesn’t go door-to-door to sell power plans and doesn’t use multi-level, commission-based marketing channels to sell power."
