Citizens for Energy Choices, the group backing an energy choice ballot initiative in Florida, has written a letter to Gov. Ron DeSantis urging him to veto HB 5, which includes new requirements for the ballot initiative process -- generally making the process harder for initiatives to qualify, the Florida Phoenix reports

The bill, passed in early May, still hasn't been received by the governor, the Florida Phoenix reports

The Florida Phoenix reports that Alex Patton, who is leading the Citizens for Energy Choices initiative, said that it is doubtful that the group would be able to collect the necessary 766,000 signatures before the law would take effect changing the requirements

Patton also cited uncertainty from implementation of the law if enacted, due to needed rulemakings, and predicted "chaos" for the initiative process
