Niagara Mohawk (National Grid) is informing customers on hourly priced (HP) default service that they will see a new line item, Capacity Reconciliation, on their electric bills starting in July, as the result of changes recently approved by the New York PSC

As first exclusively reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, the PSC directed NiMo to create and calculate a new Supply Service Adjustment (SSA) for only HP customers, separate from the reconciliation for non-hourly customers

Additionally, capacity costs will now be reconciled using a $/kW rate on the ICAP tag (rather than using a kWh reconciliation).

NiMo will implement the change with the addition of a line item called Capacity Reconciliation on HP customer bills starting in July.

"Overall, these changes will provide for a more accurate allocation of costs and will have the benefit of decreasing price volatility for hourly pricing customers," NiMo said in a letter to be sent to customers
