ERCOT NPRR Would Mandate Retail Providers Report On Demand Response, Called Events

April 17,2019

ERCOT has submitted Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) 933 (Reporting of Demand Response by Retail Electric Providers and Non-Opt-In Entities, submitted by ERCOT) which would include in the protocols a specific mandate for retail electric providers to share information about their demand response and price responsive programs with ERCOT

While ERCOT has requested such information from REPs in the past, current language in the protocols only provides that ERCOT shall "work with" Market Participants to produce a report summarizing Demand response programs, and MWs enrolled in Demand response in the ERCOT Region

The NPRR would add protocol language requiring REPs to provide the info to ERCOT, including information on specific deployment events

The NPRR would specific provide that:

• "Non-Opt-In Entities (NOIEs) and Retail Electric Providers (REPs) shall submit reports to ERCOT detailing their Customers’ participation in Demand and/or price response programs. These reports shall be submitted on a quarterly basis on a schedule and in a format established by ERCOT."

• "In conjunction with this reporting, NOIEs and REPs shall also report on specific deployment events they have initiated during the reporting period.

• "ERCOT shall validate the submitted reports and indicate any errors and inconsistencies that require correction to the REP or NOIE within two Business Days of the submission. REPs and/or NOIEs shall address the errors and inconsistencies and submit corrected reports to ERCOT within five Business Days.
