Report: National Grid Hedging More N.Y. Electric Supplies, Default Service Rate More Stable

January 07,2015

The Albany Times Union reported on lower and more stable rates for National Grid electric and gas customers this winter, and included the following nugget:

"National Grid has been doing more price 'hedging' this year — using special supply contracts — to ensure that price spikes don't impact customers as much as they did last year."

The Times Union noted that this has led to an electric commodity rate for the NiMo Capital Region of about 10¢/kWh.
