April 01,2019

Southern Alliance for Clean Energy has published a blog post stating that it does not support the proposed electric choice ballot initiative in Florida, stating that the introduction of choice would bring uncertainty into the growth of renewables and would delay current projects

Separately, Joe Gibbons, a board member of Floridians for Affordable Reliable Energy, which opposes electric choice, had an op-ed published in Florida Politics opposing the electric choice ballot initiative

Aside from citing higher prices and "fraud" experienced in deregulated markets, Gibbons writes, "Several deregulated states have struggled with reliability, as communities suffered from brownouts and extended periods without power."
