Centrica plc has signed a two-year contract with global aluminium firm, Alcoa, to provide commercial services supporting a renewable Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) contracted with a 197 MW onshore wind farm in Guleslettene, Norway.
The arrangement is Centrica’s first major contract with Alcoa in Norway. Centrica will deliver dynamic shaping and balancing services for output from the wind farm and electricity consumption at Alcoa’s Norwegian plants.
The 197 MW Guleslettene wind installation will be built on the west coast of Norway, close to the city of Floroe, and is expected to be operational in late 2020. In July 2018, Alcoa signed a 15-year corporate PPA with the wind farm’s owner Blackrock for 100 percent of the electricity production from the installation.
Centrica has a route-to-market portfolio of over 13.8GW under contract in Europe, over 8.8 GW of which are renewable assets.
