Microsoft Enters PPAs With Two Providers

March 07,2019

Microsoft has entered into PPAs with two energy providers

EDP Renewables SA (EDPR), through its fully owned subsidiary EDP Renewables North America LLC, and Microsoft Corp. have executed two 15-year power purchase agreements (PPA) totaling 125 megawatts (MW) that will support the Timber Road IV Wind Farm in Ohio's Paulding County.

The 125 MW Timber Road IV Wind Farm is expected to be operational in 2019

Separately, Microsoft Corp. and Invenergy announced a PPA for a 74-megawatt solar project in Beaufort County, North Carolina.

The Wilkinson Solar Energy Center project will be constructed, owned and operated by Invenergy, which has contracted more than 1,600 megawatts supporting corporate renewable customers. Via a 15-year power purchase agreement, Microsoft will become the sole offtaker of the energy generated at the Wilkinson Solar Energy Center.

Collectively, these projects will bring Microsoft's directly purchased renewable energy portfolio to nearly 1.4 gigawatts (GW). Microsoft now has five projects in the PJM region.
