Maryland Utility Proceeding With Installation Of Utility-Owned EV Charging Stations For Public Use
March 05,2019
Potomac Edison, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., announced that it will begin installing Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations in Maryland later this year
As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, Potomac Edison was authorized by the Maryland PSC to proceed with its "full complement" of requested public EV chargers (59 chargers)
As previously reported the PSC, denied, however, Potomac Edison's proposal to own about some 200 EV charging stations located at customer-specific sites (multi-family and C&I customer sites). Instead, as at the other utilities, PE was directed to offer various incentives for customer-ownership of an EV charger (incentives were also approved for residential customers at all of the EDCs)
Potomac Edison also announced various incentives and rebates for customer installations of EV chargers under the program approved by the PSC
James Sears, President of Maryland Operations for Potomac Edison said, "Our expertise at building electrical infrastructure will help position Maryland as a leader in EV technology. We look forward to partnering with state officials to ensure our EV charging station program produces long-term benefits as we continue providing safe, reliable and affordable service to our customers."
