Texas PUC Chair: December Decision on ERCOT Market Changes Not A "Rush"
November 09,2018
During yesterday's open meeting, Texas PUC Chairman DeAnn Walker pushed back against claims that the PUC is "rushing" on changes to ERCOT's energy-only market design (such as changes to the ORDC, etc.)
Walker said that she was "astonished" about people saying in the past week that the Commission is "rushing" to a decision. Walker noted that the PUC has been working on the issues for a long time, before her tenure on the Commission
"It doesn't feel like much of a rush," Walker said
The PUC did not substantively discuss any potential changes concerning the ERCOT market structure at yesterday's meeting, as Walker said that she has received additional information that she wishes to review
Walker said that the Commission will address the potential changes at its December 7 open meeting, and, at such meeting, will also consider real-time co-optimization and marginal losses, to consider the issues holistically
Staff will provide a recommendation at such meeting concerning all of the issues
